A summary report 7 1 Background First aid education at the British Red Cross The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. As a member of the Red Cross and Crescent Movement, which is the world’s largest provider of first aid education and training, we provide learning in first aid, disasters and emergencies, and humanitarian values. We offer a variety of first aid training and resources, including high-quality face-to-face education, free online resources for young people and teachers at primary- and secondary-school level, as well as putting life-saving tools into people’s pockets through our free first aid phone apps. Overall we aim to develop effective education to reduce the harmful impacts of crises, including the skills needed to reduce harm and save lives. We aim to change behaviours and attitudes so that more people will take humanitarian action by stepping forward to help.
