Exploring the difference made by Support at home 15 2 Research aims 6 he Support at home programme at the British Red Cross offers short-term, practical and emotional support to help Tpeople build their confidence and regain their independence. Support at home services are varied in focus and approach across the organisation, allowing local teams to respond to local needs and to reflect commissioner priorities. For example, some services focus on supporting people after a stay in hospital, and others work specifically alongside A&E teams to prevent people being admitted into hospital from A&E. Many of our services provide support for people at home, to prevent them from having to rely on higher-intensity and costly social care. In 2012, the research, evaluation and impact (RE&I) team undertook an evaluation of the Support at home service.
